Minka Fair Trade

Reversed Painted Glass Artisan
Since 1978, MINKA, which means "working together" in the Quechua language, has been working with rural artisans, most of them women, in all regions of Peru. The 62 community organizations and 9,000 artisans and farmers affiliated with MINKA Fair Trade produce traditional herbs, Andean food (quinoa, corn, potatoes), and a full range of traditional Peruvian handcrafts using local materials like organic cotton, organic alpaca wool, ceramics, silver, and stone. A new eco-tourism project called MINKA Trail makes arrangements for visitors to visit rural communities. MINKA's ultimate goal is to strengthen the rural community organizations so they can better meet the needs of the villagers. MINKA was an active promoter of Fair Trade and the first southern member of IFAT, the International Fair Trade Association.

My time at The Enterprising Kitchen has been a wonderful opportunity for me to start over and become independent. My experience helped me plan my future goals....I plan to work in community law and assist nonprofit organizations such as The Enterprising Kitchen. Stella Donald, The Enterprising Kitchen.
