Ghana: Build Skills for Better Baskets
Enrich the lives of women in northern Ghana who weave distinctive, brightly-colored bolga baskets by providing them with in-depth training, dye packets, and bundles of grass to make baskets.
The best basket weavers from our partner Trade Aid Integrated will pass on skills and techniques they learned from trainings conducted by SERRV to 240 rural basket makers. Your Plant a Seed donation will provide resources for these master weavers to travel to 10 communities, where local women will gather for 4 days of intensive training.
Life is not easy for these basket makers. Farming doesn’t always provide enough for the family, so selling baskets can make the difference between one meal a day or two. Plant a Seed to ensure that the weavers retain basket making as a source of income now and in the future. You will receive a card containing details about the Plant a Seed Project you’ve chosen which you can pass on to a friend or relative.
