About Mali

Mali is located in western Africa nestled between Algeria, Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Niger. Mali is among the 25 poorest countries in the world and relies heavily on mining and agriculture to support their fragile economy. Political unrest in neighboring regions and recent droughts have made it difficult for Mali to gain economic ground. Extreme malnutrition, rampant spreading of infectious disease and great poverty continue to threaten the lives of people in rural areas.
