Kenya: New Sewing Machines for Disabled Artisans
Bombolulu Workshops in Mombasa, Kenya was started in 1969 as a rehabilitation project by the Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya. Thanks to the work of Bombolulu, 110 disabled men and women are now able to support themselves and their families and, in addition, receive free housing and medical assistance.
Heavy duty sewing machines are used to sew the canvas and leather bags Bombolulu artisans make. The two sewing machines now in use were already used when they were donated by a German foundation over 10 years ago. These machines need to be replaced at a cost of approximately $2,000.
Your donation will help Bombolulu continue to provide hard-to-find jobs for the disabled in Kenya and improve quality the quality of their products. Please donate today.
