Nepal: Get Paper Cooperative's Send Your Daughter to School Program
The Get Paper Cooperative in Nepal not only provides jobs for over 125 cooperative members at its workshop in Kathmandu, but also is very committed to supporting a variety of social programs throughout the country. Four percent of the revenue Get Paper receives from each order is dedicated to funding these social programs, which include scholarships for girls, anti-human trafficking programs, AIDS awareness activities, and reforestation projects. That four percent, however, comes nowhere near covering the costs of these programs. An African proverb says, "If we educate a boy, we educate one person. If we educate a girl, we educate a family and a whole community." Every year, the Get Paper Cooperative provides 125 scholarships for girls to attend school through its "Send Your Daughter to School" program. Low income families understand that a good education will lead to a brighter future for their daughters, and for their communities. When you help educate a girl, the benefits extend far beyond the classroom. The Girls Global Education Fund reports that educating girls helps reduce fertility rates, lowers child and maternal mortality rates, helps ensure an education for future generations, raises women's wages, and these higher wages are often re-invested in their families. Your donation of $100 will send a Nepali girl to school for one year. Please donate today.
