Beautiful but stained easily

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my fiancee. While the spoon rest is heavy and beautiful, it unfortunately got a white stain that won't come out after I left a spoon in it that was covered in a ketchup/vinegar glaze I had made. It seems there was some kind of chemical reaction between the vinegar in the glaze and whatever treatment there is on the spoon rest. What a bummer! Sharing this so others can avoid making the same mistake. I would still recommend the product.
