Details

Discover the unique charm and functionality of our set of 3 Kantha Dishcloths, meticulously crafted from upcycled cotton saris. These double-layer linens not only serve as a practical addition to your kitchen but also bring a splash of vibrant Indian tradition to your home while cleaning even the most stubborn stains. Each dishcloth is adorned with traditional kantha embroidery, showcasing the skillful artistry that has been passed down through generations.

Kantha, an ancient form of embroidery from the Indian subcontinent, involves simple running stitches that bring out intricate designs and tell stories through patterns. Our kantha washcloths are a celebration of this heritage, combining functionality with cultural preservation. The rich colors and patterns vary widely, offering a unique set each time--one that you'll be proud to display or gift.

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, these handmade washcloths are a testament to sustainable practices. Made from 100% recycled cotton, they reflect a commitment to eco-friendly products that reduce waste and promote recycling. The small hanging loops add a practical touch, making them easy to store within reach in your kitchen.

Ideal for a variety of household tasks, from drying dishes to wiping down countertops and more, these versatile fair trade kantha dishcloths are durable yet gentle enough for everyday use. Each cloth measures 11 1/2" square, providing ample surface for efficient cleaning. The set makes an excellent gift for anyone who appreciates a touch of artisan craftsmanship in their home essentials and is one of our best-selling handmade gifts.

As with all handcrafted items featuring traditional techniques, each piece includes unique patches and small imperfections that enhance its charm and testify to its handmade nature. These characteristics are celebrated as symbols of authenticity and are embraced as part of the fabric's story. Let us choose a unique dishcloth set you'll love.

To ensure the longevity and preservation of the vibrant colors and intricate embroidery, we recommend washing these kantha dishcloths with 1/2 cup of baking soda before the first use. This not only helps remove any mustiness that may have appeared during transit from India but also preserves the fabric's quality and coloration over time. Machine wash cold and line dry to keep them looking their best.

Embrace the beauty of sustainable living with our Kantha Dishcloths. Each wash and use brings out the softness of the cotton, making them a delightful addition to your home essentials that merge style, tradition, and practicality. These kantha towels are not just tools but treasures that offer a glimpse into a world of color, culture, and craftsmanship.

I love these Kantha dish cloths! They're not only beautiful (which makes it a little more fun to do dishes) but the craftsmanship is wonderful. I know it's kind of nutty to like a dish rag this much, but I'm sold. They dry quickly which helps eliminate any musty oders., and they even have a hang tag. I have a lot of Kantha dish towels and napkins, so these fit right in!

I bought these dish cloths to use as gifts in addition to keeping some for my own use. The one I am currently using has all the colors of my kitchen and is just the right weight to clean and wipe counters. I hate thick cloths and this is just to my liking!

Reduce, reuse, recycle, and make it beautiful.

These cloths, which reuse cotton from saris, are stunningly beautiful. What a lovely way to care for creation. In the set I bought, each side is a different, attractive pattern. They can not only function as dish cloths, but as a model for your own out of style or outgrown cotton prints.
