Artisans in Cambodia
Your purchase helps marginalized rural women and individuals with disabilities in Cambodia receive employment, income, training, and hope, empowering them to become self-sufficient. Native handcraft traditions help rebuild the Khmer craft tradition, decimated during Cambodia's many years of conflict and civil war.
Since 2006, SERRV International has partnered with artisans in Cambodia, providing a long-term trading partnership and interest-free advance payment for our orders. Through sales of their products, more than 100 vulnerable workers—mostly women— from rural villages are taught to sew, embroider, and weave, and are offered flexible employment that provides meaningful home-based work, healthcare, and childcare support. This work allows these artisans to realize their potential, enrich the lives of villagers around them, and provide the world with a link to Cambodia's rich craft culture and history.
Artisans in Cambodia use several techniques to create their variety of beautiful handcrafts, including tie dye and screen printing. Read more about these handcrafting techniques.
