Bright colors, leather-wrapped handles, and a boat-shaped design lend this elephant grass basket its distinctly African flair. Roomy construction provides easy access to farmers market produce or everyday storage. Size, shape, and color vary due to handmade nature. Approx dimensions: 19 1/2"h x 13 1/2"w x 9"d.

Reshaping Your Bolgatanga Basket: Our artisan partners fold this basket in order to ship more efficiently. To remove creases and restore its shape, dampen basket with a spray bottle or other water source, or by submerging in water for 1 minute. Let it rest for 5 minutes to allow grass to absorb the moisture and become pliable. Bend and press the basket into shape - don't worry, it won't break. Allow it to air dry before use and enjoy your beautiful handwoven basket from Ghana!

Bought as a wedding present

This basket looks just like the picture -- beautiful colors. I bought it as a wedding present and filled it with "alternative products," such as laundry soap that comes in sheets in a small folder (instead of a plastic bottle or cardboard box). I wanted something unusual and fair trade, and this basket fit the bill. (FedEx threw the package onto our porch in a very battered box, but fortunately, the basket was unharmed.)

This bag is beautiful. Large, but not bulky because of its flexibility. The grip handles are comfortable and large enough to hang over stroller handles. I will take it with me every time I head into the City, because it holds a lot of stuff.
