Gospel House Handicraft
Gospel House Handicraft was started to provide training and employment to poor and semi-educated youth from marginalized areas of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Your purchase supports the creation of sustainably crafted wooden toys and improves the lives of artisans and their communities.
Gospel House Handicraft was established in 1977, and was eventually able to purchase land and build a workshop in Madampe, 40 miles outside of Colombo. The company's fine wood decor and toys are created from albizia, a fast-growing, sustainable tree commonly found throughout Sri Lanka. Each piece is created with the highest fair trade and international standards, and is finished with lead-free paint. Today Gospel House employs 25 permanent workers within their main production facility, as well as nearly 120 regional producers.
